FlightScope’s South African Roots
The Investec SA Open Championship provides the perfect stage for FlightScope to demonstrate its continued commitment to innovation, precision, and growing the game – particularly given the company’s deep roots in Stellenbosch.
Founded by Henri Johnson in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 1989 to track projectiles for the defence industry, FlightScope soon redirected its expertise toward revolutionising the world of sports performance technology.
Now, with a legacy of excellence spanning more than three decades and offices across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, FlightScope has built a truly global presence. Yet its roots remain firmly in South Africa – every FlightScope launch monitor is still manufactured at the company’s office in Techno Park, Stellenbosch, where its innovation journey began.
