Mark Crossfield Reviews the FlightScope Mevo Gen2: “Exceptional Value For Money”

Renowned golf instructor and content creator Mark Crossfield recently put the new FlightScope Mevo Gen2 to the test. After using it indoors, outdoors, at the range, and even on the golf course, Crossfield came away calling it “a serious contender” for golfers who want professional-level practice at a competitive price.

“For the price it’s sat at, it’s one of, if not the best, device out there,” said Crossfield.

Compact and Professional Design

Crossfield began by praising the Mevo Gen2’s look, feel, and build quality.

“The device is lovely and small. It comes with a little kickstand out the back to stand it up. It’s got a USB-C charge point… It comes in a very neat package and box with a nice padded carry case. The whole thing, when it comes, feels very professional, feels very good quality, which you’d expect from FlightScope.”

He also highlighted its portability: “I do love the portability of this unit. It’s so easy and lightweight to move. Just plonk it down and get using it straight away.”

Fusion Tracking Technology

The Mevo Gen2 features FlightScope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology, which is a unique combination of radar and camera systems for unmatched accuracy. According to Crossfield, it provides more than enough data for effective practice.

“Basically, it’s trying to just not predict things. It’s seeing the club and seeing the ball. It collects 18 comprehensive data points… full swing, chipping, and putting as well. It’s going to capture so much data that for most golfers, it’s going to be more than you ever really need or use.”

Performance Indoors and Outdoors

Crossfield tested the Mevo Gen2 across a wide range of environments:

  • Indoors: “The numbers were good compared to my GC Quad,” he said. “It was more than good enough to give me very good readings that I could use.”

  • At the range: “If you’re on a range tee all day, you could set the device up, capture shots, and keep all that data. It would absolutely work fantastically.”

  • On-course: “It’s good to take to the course if you’ve got the time to confirm what you’re doing inside or at your range is happening out on the course.”

  • Pre-round warm-up: “As a pre-round warm-up device, this was fantastic… dialing in your wedges before you go out there, making sure your drivers are up to speed, checking your irons… it just is seamless.”

A Professional-Level App

Some of Crossfield’s highest praise was reserved for the FS Golf app, available for free on iOS, Android, and Windows PC.

“The app for this device is fantastic. It’s very professional. It is intuitive to use… it allows you to really organize your data in a professional way, making this device a real kind of bridge between home use, casual use, and professional use. I could teach with this device if I wanted to.”

Standout app features include:

  • Practice Session Variety: Launch full swing, chipping, putting, swing training, and listener mode sessions – plus Challenges like Long Drive and PGA Challenge – with session reviews available anytime.

  • FlightScope AR Tracer: Automatic video recording with full shot tracer and data overlay. “It does a nearly real-time pro-tracer effect – such a cool effect, which you could add to any content you make if you’re a content creator. It’s fantastic and it’s super cool.”

  • Apple Watch Integration: View up to six selected data parameters in real time on your Apple Watch.

  • Flexible Data Visualization: Toggle light/dark modes, trajectory views, 2D spin axis animations, and grouping displays.

  • Integrated Video Analysis: Overlay swing videos (recorded on your device or the Mevo’s internal camera) with tracked data and annotate with built-in drawing tools.

  • Custom Club and Trajectory View: Choose from 28 club colors, with on-screen trajectory lines adjusting based on the selected club for clear visual feedback.

  • Swing Training Tools: Track club head speed without hitting a ball — compatible with systems like TheStack and SuperSpeed Golf. “People who want to speed test as well, because it now does speed swing sticks… you can capture the data of that on here as well. You don’t have to hit shots.”

  • Compatible with All Golf Ball Types: Use standard, range, or reflective radar capture (RCT) balls for accurate indoor spin capture.

For Crossfield, the combination of simulation, practice modes, and data tracking makes the Mevo Gen2 stand out: “It does everything. As apps go, I would say this is one of the best.”

Every Mevo Gen2 also includes lifetime ownership of an eight-course bundle on E6 Connect. “You get eight courses and then there are other courses you can add on… it’s more than capable of playing simulated golf in an indoor space.”

No Subscriptions, Great Value

Crossfield emphasized that the Mevo Gen2’s pricing model is one of its biggest strengths.

“No subscriptions. You get all that bundle that I mentioned for the price of the device, which is very, very competitive… For the price it’s sat at, it’s one of, if not the best, device out there.”

He acknowledged that cheaper launch monitors exist, but quickly dismissed them as less capable. “Do they do as much as this and are they as accurate as this? I would say no.”

Final Verdict

Crossfield’s verdict on the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is clear: it’s accurate, portable, powerful, and exceptional value for money.

“If you are branching into the launch monitor kind of world, you’re thinking you want to get one, or you’re building a home simulator on a budget, this is a serious contender that I would look at. It’s accurate, it’s portable, it stays charged for a long time… and everything about the app and the way it works is so professional. I think you’ll get a lot from it.”
